The Diner

Episode Name/Number:  The Diner  (Episode 5.25)

Original Air Date:  May 6, 1980

Summary:  Lenny inherits a diner from his Uncle Lazlo, but when the boys have trouble turning the place into a success, Laverne and Shirley step in to take things over.

Guest Stars:  Jack Lukes as Lou
Best Quote:  "Attention, folks. Please don’t harass Betty please." -Laverne
Most Touching Moment/Quote:  Frank telling the girls that they can be anything they want to be, after they are discouraged by their first day running the diner.
Funniest Moment:  Basically, the whole scene of the girls in the restaurant - it is arguably one of the funniest in the show's history: "Attention, attention, lucky, lucky! For the next 10 minutes, everything comes with pancakes!" -Laverne
Squiggy Hello:  "Well, let’s face it, Shirl. We are never going to be our own bosses. We’re just a couple of rats on a treadmill." –Laverne  "Hello!" -Squiggy
Featured Songs:  Dead Lazlo’s Place ("Great burgers, fries, and weenies at DeFazio & Feeney’s…"); Carmine singing "There’s No Business Like Show Business"
Strangest Moment:  Lenny and Squiggy "shaking on it" their way. Never fails to be awesome.
Best Insult:  "Carmine, there are no small rooms… there are just small singers." -Laverne
Saddest Moment:  The boys admitting that they are broke after only a few weeks in the restaurant business.
Fun Tidbit:  The signs in the original Dead Lazlo’s place read things such as "Naked Women Eat Free," "If the Peas Move, Shoot Them," "If You Fall Down, You Buy It," "All Meat Certified Dead," and "We Love Fat People." Hats off to the prop department on this one.

Episode in One Ridiculous Picture:

Star Rating:  5/5
Verdict:  Situated right at the end of season 5, we have ourselves a true comedic classic… and one of the most widely recognized L&S episodes of all-time.

The Laverne and Shirley Place is strictly an unofficial fan site and is not affiliated with Laverne & Shirley or Paramount Pictures. Mad respect to Garry Marshall for creating this wonderful show, these crazy characters, and all the resulting insanity.
