Laverne & Shirley Fashion
I have always enjoyed checked out the fashion stylings of Miss Laverne DeFazio and Shirley Feeney. Whether they were dressing up for a date with a coupla' big spenders or just lounging around their basement apartment, Laverne & Shirley somehow found a way to do fashion on a dime. Some might argue that the fashion represented on this show is decades old, and thus outdated, but I'd be lying if I said there weren't many outfits featured on the show that I'd still proudly be sporting today. Below, I've highlighted some of my favorite outfits worn by the girls, as well as some outfits that some of the other L&S "scholars" out there (you know who you are) have listed as favorites. There are also a few memorable fashion choices from some of the girls' family & friends represented below.
Here we have Laverne DeFazio in a long, floral, thin-strapped gown, featuring shades of hunter green and pale pink. Pleats from the waist downward help add volume to this simple-yet-luxorious gown (perfect to wear when your BFF's boyfriend comes onto you... or, y'know, for just the everyday occurrance...)
Ms. Shirley Feeney is sporting a tight-fitting black cocktail dress, adorned with sparkles, and with a sheer, v-neck cut. Accessories with this outfit include tomato-orange dew-drop earrings, and a complementary scarf, which adds a bit of pizzazz to her sparkling ensamble, complete with a teardrop diamond(ish) necklace.
A fan-favorite outfit of Ms. Laverne DeFazio is the 1960's era ensemble that she wore during the episode "Sing, Sing, Sing," in which her and Leonard Kosnowski performed one of their infamous duets. In this outfit, Lavene is sporting knee-high white boots, an-orange-red thigh-high skit, along with a tucked-in white-and-red tank top that perfectly matches that sewn-on "L," AND her complementary skirt. With a feathered haircut... this gal is clearly on top of the 1960's styles.
