Episode Name/Number:  Testing, Testing  (Episode 5.13)

Original Air Date:  December 13, 1979

Summary:  Shotz orders mandatory psychiatric testing of all its employees, but the gang - especially Laverne - is dreading having to go through with the tests.

Guest Stars:  Charles Thomas Murphy as Dr. Gentry (he comes back to reprise his role as Dr. Gentry later this season in "The Duke of Squiggman").
Best Quote:  "I’m absolutely normal! Or as he calls me - 'ab-normal.'" -Squiggy
Most Touching Moment/Quote:  Squiggy talking about his parents would leave for days at a time when he was a child.
Funniest Moment:  Squiggy’s entire interview with Dr. Gentry - it's basically a collection of brilliant one-liners ("A man is a guy who is tall, and he’s like a boy, see, ‘cept through the urges of nature, he is forced to learn how to shave his’self" -Squiggy)
Squiggy Hello:  None
Featured Songs:  Shirley’s rendition of what a High-Hopes singing doorbell would sound like
Strangest Moment:  Lenny's reaction to Dr. Gentry's evaluation:  "Lenny, I wish I could give you the gift of confidence." -Dr. Gentry  "Are you the Wizard of Oz?" -Lenny, looking around the room.
Best Insult:  "Well, personally, I’m looking forward to those psychological tests tomorrow. Possibly because MY mind is not filled with sex thoughts!" -Shirley, to Laverne
Saddest Moment:  Lenny's inadvertent revelation to Dr. Gentry about his childhood: "Just so long as we don’t have to talk about what it's like to be a little kid and all the other kids know the teacher’s giving you your lunch money, and they make fun of you ‘cause your mom ran out on you and your dad smells of fish all the time, and you're afraid of linoleum." -Lenny
Fun Tidbit:  Laverne's favorite ice cream flavor is anything with ripple.

Episode in One Ridiculous Picture:

Star Rating:  4/5
Verdict:  Sure, the final sequence where Dr. Gentry presents his findings to the group is a little cheesy, but thanks to awesome writing and a focus on the "core four," this episode ends up being a fun look into the guys' and gals' minds.
